Wrapper Definitions and Information
This article will help you get familiarized with the terminology used in the Candy Wrapping Industry. The CWA is a leader in this field and through our monthly online Ezine and our online members-only forum, you can continue to expand your knowledge.
Commonly used terms:
SOE - Standard Open End. This refers to a candy wrapper that is designed to fit a standard 1.55 oz chocolate bar while leaving the ends open. Most people will over wrap the manufacturer's label with foil to produce a "classic" candy bar look prior to applying their custom wrappers.
SCE - Standard Closed End. This refers to a candy wrapper that is designed to fully cover a manufacturer's wrapper on a 1.55 oz chocolate bar. With this type of wrapper, you will seal or crimp the ends to imitate the manufacturer's packaging methods.
Mint book - A product designed to look like a book of matches, only you will staple an individually wrapped mint inside of these, rather than matches.
Lollipop Cover - A product that looks like a large Mint book, but is designed to fit over the head of a flat-sucker or lollipop candy.
Full Size/Standard Size - This is used interchangeably with SOE and SCE when referring to a 1.55 oz chocolate bar.
Mini - Refers to the Hershey's Assorted Miniature candy bars. These bite size candies are covered with an open-ended wrapper, as they come with foil ends from the manufacturer
